ΟγΈΫΑωΊΟ²ΚΏͺ½±Φ±²₯'s Center for Economic Development and Business Research has released an updated Kansas, Wichita, Kansas City and Topeka Employment Forecast.
In 2022, Kansas's total nonfarm employment is forecast to increase by 13,401 jobs, with a projected growth rate of 1%.
The fastest growth is projected to be in the service sectors, which are forecast to expand 1.3% and add more than 2,200 new jobs. The production sectors are expected to grow 1%, adding more than 2,300 new jobs to the state economy. The trade, transportation and utilities sector is projected to add more than 2,200 jobs for 0.8% growth, while government sector employment is predicted to increase by 0.2%.
2022 updated Wichita Employment Forecast
In 2022, Wichita's total nonfarm employment is projected to expand by 1.1%, adding more than 3,100 jobs.
The service sectors are forecast to lead growth, adding more than 1,800 for a growth rate of 1.3%. The trade, transportation and utilities sectors are expected to increase by 0.9%, an expansion of more than 400 jobs. The production sectors are projected to expand by approximately 400 jobs, 1.1% growth. The government sector is expected to grow by approximately 100 jobs.
2022 Kansas City Employment Forecast
In 2022, Kansas City's total nonfarm employment is forecast to add 16,534 jobs, with a projected growth rate of 1.5%.
The service sectors are expected to add the most jobs, with a growth of 2%, bringing more than 11,500 new jobs. The production sectors are projected to grow 0.9%, adding more than 1,200 new jobs. The trade, transportation and utilities sector is forecast to expand 1.2%, while the government sector is projected to increase by 0.8%.
2022 Topeka Employment Forecast
In 2022, Topeka's total nonfarm employment is forecast to increase 1.2%, adding more than 1,200 jobs to the local economy.
The service sectors are projected to add the majority of the jobs in the area and are forecast to grow 1.8%, expanding by more than 900 jobs. The production sectors are expected to increase 1.1%, while the trade, transportation and utilities sector is projected to grow by 0.8%, a collective increase of approximately 300 jobs. The government sector is expected to expand by 0.2%, an increase of fewer than 100 jobs.
