TRIO Student Support Services offer students opportunities to build positive relationships while learning important life skills in an office environment. When available, Wichita State University students can apply for employment and be a part of our diverse and student-friendly team. We have several student positions available throughout the year: Student Assistant (office), Lab Assistant or Tutor. TRIO SSS program participants are encouraged to apply for these positions.

Tutor

Tutors are trained and certified to provide peer tutoring to SSS students in courses that they have received at least a grade of B or better.

Peer Mentor

Responsibilities include attending all Peer Mentoring training sessions at the beginning of each semester. Providing weekly mentoring to students assigned to you based upon the training you鈥檝e been given. Assisting in the development of positive study habits, study skills, and life skills of mentored students. Providing regular feedback to the SSS Project Director and Academic Advisors on your student鈥檚 mentoring progress.

Student Assistants

Student Assistants are the first persons that greet any visitor to the SSS office. This is a very versatile position that will help you learn and work on several skill such as typing, filing, computer data entry, running errands, and attending training sessions. The student assistants are to follow the program polices and procedures and support the program in a varieties of tasks set by the program director.

Student Website Manager

Student Website Manager is an important position as it keeps the SSS website updated with the latest content and information. The SSS website is hosted  by the University OU Portal.
